And So A New Year….

2010 Gundog ‘Poacher’s’ Semillon
Hunter Valley, N.S.W.

Semillon is the perfect drink for warm summer days.  This has bright, crisp, lemony fruit, some herbaceous & grassy notes with delicious, lip-smacking acidity.  Just the thing to give you a little pick-me-up & help wash the sweat of the day away.

2010 Eisacktaler Muller Thurgau
Alto Adige, IT.

Not exactly at the forefront of your mind when looking for a white wine, but this baby will surprise & delight.  Floral with some tropical fruits & a minerally backbone.  Some spice & tang make this perfect with grilled seafood.

2010 Castro Martin Albarino
Rias Baixas, SP.

A classic example of this variety & always one of our favourites.  Golden straw in colour, it has flavours of jasmine, apricot, lemon, nectarine & lime that fill the mouth.  Mid palate weight is relieved by some great balancing minerality..

2011 The Story Pinot Noir,
Port Campbell, VIC.

Rory Lane continues to pump out some amazing regional shiraz that he’s built his reputation on, but his new pinot is a killer.  Unfiltered, it is definitely in the savoury spectrum.  Lovely fragrant red fruits & even some musk, it is full of red & dark cherry, strawberries, some plum & soft, silky tannins.

2010 Pulenta ‘La Flor’ Malbec
Mendoza, ARG.

A truly super summer sipper.  Plump & fruity with lashings of blackberry, plum & black cherry.  A whiff of vanilla, some herbaceous/tobacco notes & fine, grippy tannins avail this wine to many food styles & plenty of good times.

2007 Chestnut Hill Nebbiolo
Gippsland, VIC.

Always considered one of the best Nebbiolo’s in Australia, this 2007 is doing the title justice.  Light in colour, developing the typical red brick hue of aged Nebbiolo, the palate packs more punch than you would expect.  Super dry with sour cherry, some tarriness and really, really fine dusty tannins.  Needs food, but will elevate a good grilled piece of meat to great!

2007 Chestnut Hill Nebbiolo
