In many ways, Daniel Bouland is the antithesis of Beaujolais' reputation circa the 1970s and 80s. Known as one of the region's more reclusive producers, Bouland tends to his rustic, predominately old vine vineyards all by himself, with holdings across the Morgon lieux-dits of Corcelette, Bellevue, and Delys. His wines are bold, structured, and incredibly layered, offering a wonderful reference point for how versatile and brooding Gamay can be. The Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Sable is a beautiful old vine Gamay from the sandy soiled Corcelette lieu-dit. Mulberry, plum, sage, blackberry, a saline touch, and sandy tannins.
