Straight up Nebbiolo comes from three sites across two Heathcote vineyards for this wine and sees nine days of cool maceration and a few months in old puncheons before bottling. Super bright and super red (see what we're getting at) with crunchy raspberry and sour cherry coming together on the more savoury palate, with a smattering of sandy tannins that'll have coming back for more.

A softer style of Nebbiolo, but this still shows plenty of varietal character in the glass. Perfumed with candied red cherry, raspberry and some red liquorice. Earthy plum tempers the sweet aromatics in the glass, with some ripe fruit, a lick of dusty tannins and savoury notes to round out the palate.

Made from younger vines, this Nebbiolo is bold yet beautifully soft and approachable. Aromatic and savoury, with forestal cherries, earthiness, and bittersweet caraway seed spice. A nice pinch of structural tannin and fresh acidity.

From the one and only Owen Latta, this is full of jubey red fruits, so much orange and flavours akin to everyone's favourite aperitivo, the Negroni. Nebbiolo from Malakoff and Landsborough vineyards was harvested across a month for a perfect balance of freshness and ripeness of fruits. Fresh, zippy and a little grippy, it's a great bottle to share with your cocktail-loving pals looking to make the leap to vino.

Latta Elusive Nebbiolo 2021

Timo's Nebbiolo comes from the Wood vineyard, grown on a highly exposed north-facing slope at the De Bortoli Dixons Creek Estate. It's a pretty and perfumed rendition of the variety that drinks almost like Pinot in weight, though still features a prominent wash of varietal Nebbiolo tannins. Timo's use of whole bunch in this wine has a very savoury effect and as such, it avoids that confected jelly-bean character that often appears in young Australian Nebbiolo which hasn't had the extended ferment or longer maturation that the variety sees in Italy. A deliciously unique wine!

Enjoying this Nebbiolo is somewhat of a ritual, pour a glass and give it some time to sigh and unwind (this is a good time for you to sigh and unwind too). Earthy bramble berries early on the nose and with some air the aromas move towards rose, cherry and raspberry. Bramble, earthy berries continue onto the palate with sandy tannins, savoury notes and bright acidity.
