We made a thoughtful selection of subregional character when considering the wines we wanted to share with you. In McLaren Vale, the sandy soils of the vineyard work well to highlight the aromatics of the Grenache. This year's iteration is a real step up in complexity and structure! With the extra dimension of wild plum, think sweet red currants with some crunch to the fruit, and a lovely tight grain of tannin, all wrapped with a veil of berry and violet aromatics. Sweet, spice-laden and with a silk-like textural flow—there's a real finesse to this wine. This ain't your typical McLaren Vale Shiraz—this one's full of jubey red berries, with familiar warming oak spice and endlessly delicious baked plum notes. A very approachable bottle if you're looking to explore the variety within the context of McLaren Vale!

Paralian Springs Hill Shiraz 2022

Ready to drink, this release promises to compliment the finest of dining experiences. This 2020 edition reflects an equal 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon composition. Arriving at 13.0% it is elegantly weighted and not overly extracted, prime for early enjoyment. Taste pure cassis and wild mulberry fruits with a veil of autumnal earth and lead pencil shavings in the background. There is coco powder and cedar shaving on the layered and medium weighted palette. Hedonistic.

Domaine Clarendon BDX Cabernet Merlot 2020

Mid-weight and full of wild plum, boysenberry and a little crack of pepper, plus a spray of McLaren Vale saline. This one’s silky and naturally guzzleable from start to finish.

Saltfleet Touriga Nacional 2021

A thoughtful and well executed Grenache—we can't get enough of this. In the glass, expect red cherry and raspberry dialled up by some dried herbal whole bunch character that adds even more intrigue to the wine. Like any good Grenache, there's plenty of tannin, too, with some nicely etched edges delivering a little bit of bite to the experience.

Saltfleet Grenache 2022

Speaking of, this is brimming with sweet cherry pie notes met with a dab of cherry pip bitterness, some clove spice, and a wash of chalky tannin coming through late on the palate.

Saltfleet Sangiovese 2022

Red liquorice and raspberry jube notes sit upfront but with some air, this reveals dark berries, sweet spice and some lovely porcini-like umami character. Delicious and polished in all the right ways.
