We made a thoughtful selection of subregional character when considering the wines we wanted to share with you. In McLaren Vale, the sandy soils of the vineyard work well to highlight the aromatics of the Grenache. This year's iteration is a real step up in complexity and structure! With the extra dimension of wild plum, think sweet red currants with some crunch to the fruit, and a lovely tight grain of tannin, all wrapped with a veil of berry and violet aromatics. Sweet, spice-laden and with a silk-like textural flow—there's a real finesse to this wine. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. Grown and made on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people.

This Must Be The Place McLaren Vale Grenache 2021

A nice, textural medium bodied wine with swirling floral aromatics. The palate has some lovely gloss, stone fruit, lime citrus and green melon.

Artigiano Grillo 2022

A heady perfume of deep rose and some savoury reductive spice on the nose. Rich and plush, sweet cherry, dark berries and a little vanilla are met with sweet oak tannins across the palate. Yum!

Trentham Estate Murray Darling Shiraz 2021

Aromatics of butterscotch lead to a palate of fresh golden delicious apple and a chalky dry finish. Made using a blend of organically grown Macabeo, Xarel-lo, and Parellada that are native to the region.

Savoury orange notes meet citrus oil and orange blossom in this aromatic and spicy wine that saw 10 days on skins resulting in just enough chew to keep you coming back.

Trentham Estate Pinot Noir 2022

Beautifully balanced, leafy red currants, some salinity and whispers of tobacco and leather are all in harmony on the palate. Loads of value in this classic Yarra Valley Cabernet.

Dominique Portet Fontaine Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Wonderfully aromatic, notes of bright red damson plum meet red cherry and raspberry to draw you further into the glass. Sitting prettily amongst dark forestal fruits on the flavour spectrum, with hints of woodland spice, fresh acidity and light touches of whole bunch sap, before late building tannin. Pretty, elegant and the perfect bottle to open at your next French bistro-themed dinner party.

BISTRO Pinot Noir 2022

Our love affair with Gamay is no secret and we've fallen hard for this one! A touch richer in style than often seen in local examples of the variety—fans of more traditional (read not Nouveau Carbonic) Gamay will find allegiance with this bottle. Expect lovely crunchy and snappy brambly berries, tart cherry with gentle brushes of herbs and a genuine fan of tannin driving and building through the palate. Pair with lentils and Toulouse sausage with a big dollop of mustard while listening to Leonard Cohen. Fruit was sourced largely from the Abbey Vineyard in Tarrawarra and fermented as a mix of whole berry and whole bunches, on skins for two weeks, before transferring to puncheons for six months maturation.

BISTRO Gamay 2023

A modern and pure Chardonnay serving up everything there is to love about this variety in spades. Pristine notes of grapefruit and lemon citrus and balm. Deftly light-medium-weighted, with a line of pure, clean acidity woven through. Coming from three sites in the Yarra Valley and aged in a mix of French oak barriques, puncheons and foudre for eight to nine months.

BISTRO Chardonnay 2022

This lightly sparkling offering from the Chalmers family in Heathcote is sure to be a hit! Sherbety citrus, lychee florals, and Schweppes lemonade with a slight tingle of spritz to keep things light and refreshing.

Montevecchio Frizzante Moscato 2022

A fantastic local example of this Northern Italian variety. Deliciously dark with savoury leather notes at the fore, plump plum and red cherry fruits build in the glass, with a brambly edge and some bright n' tangy acidity washing through for a lively finish.

First Drop Wines Moderno Barbera 2021

Easy drinking and a good-time-kinda-wine, with cherry cola, sarsparilla and a nice dab of chalky tannin. There's a distinctly Australian and Italian feel, all at once, that makes it the perfect drop to drink while cooking a few snags—or Spiedini (skewers) on the BBQ! Made by the Chalmers family from the home estate and source of much of the Italian plant material we see especially in Victoria, but also across the country, hence the title Mother Block.

So approachable and showing plenty of varietal character, think cherry, potpourri and almonds, with a dusting of powdery tannins. A local number, with fruit coming from the Strathbogie Ranges and spending just a week on skins. Drink now and enjoy.

Sweet fruited aromatics with mineral acidity, lime leaf, orange blossom, and a touch of gingery spice.

Logan Weemala Riesling 2022

Bang for buck Pinot Gris from the excellent Peter Logan in Orange. Very easy-drinking, with ripe pear, nougat, tangerine, and even a hint of almond alongside sherbety acidity that compliments the wine's rich texture.

Almond blossom aromatics, peach, lime and dried rosemary with a nice pull of texture. A good line of citrusy acidity keeps the wine feeling fresh and bright.

San Marzano Timo Vermentino 2021

Restrained white stone fruit and nectarine aromas greet you before gentle spice on the palate with hints of cashew and some great freshness. The Yarra's lovely light touch makes for an extremely appealing mid-weight style and a surefire crowd-pleaser.

Punt Road Chardonnay 2022

There are some delicate aromatics at play here, with pure lemon and lime citrus notes carrying through to the dry palate, with a creamy bead and some tonic-like quinine notes. Sensational on its own and great in a spritz—make sure to garnish with olives for a real Venetian feel!
