The railside scenery from Milan to Venice gets especially pretty around Lago di Garda when the vines start to fly by the train windows in rows that rise up to the trees at the foot of the hills. Occasionally you’ll pass orchards too, and if you’re there in late April, you’ll see pink, white and green apple blossoms. All that scenery seems trapped in every glass of Colli Morenici, and we’re so thankful for that.

The first is from Kilmore and has a big, cassis-like juiciness, the second is from Yea and smells like succulent cooking spices, the third is from the Yarra Valley and comes with a little cooling acidity. They start talking and getting along really well so they jump into a tank and start fermenting and that’s the end of them.

This one’s a little exotic and will place Soave and Chardonnay drinkers in a different corner of heaven. There’s some texture and almond but it’s kept light and refreshing thanks to some lime leaf. So good with afternoon risotto.

The style is super bright and there’s some lees work and a little trademark Margies, new oak spice. The palate is a wash with citrus and grapefruit pith and of course, some of that Indian Ocean spray. Superb lunch wine.
