Chiselled and pristine Chardonnay from some of the oldest vines in NSW's Orange region.
The 2019 release went through no malolactic fermentation, instead allowing the ripe fruit from the year's warmer vintage to shine through. Despite the reasonably liberal use of oak barrels (50%), Byrne Farm employed some very tight-grain barrels from the Mâconnais region of Burgundy which adds focus to the wine without enshrouding the delicate fruit with too much vanillin. White stonefruit, nashi pear, subtle white flowers and a wet stone mineral edge. A line of clean, electrifying acid cuts through the wine to give it a lovely charge and tension.
