A beautifully balanced Chardonnay, from one of Australia's most celebrated modern winemakers.
From the tip of Smith's vineyard, where the vines are shaded and grow deep into the soil. A hint of gunsmoke on the nose blows off to reveal a dense core of fruit that feels more relaxed with this vintage. Flashes of new oak give plenty of lift to the ripe citrus and nectarine flavours; some air allows this to show a some creamy oak, before a savoury and structured finish. Fermented in a mix of new and one-year-old puncheons, before spending a further six months in neutral barrels.
