Coming from a single block of 47-year-old vines, tucked away in the northerly corner of Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. To our thinking, DC Block is Team Pannell's most structured and complex offering under the Koomilya label and not surprisingly has profound cellaring potential.
This exceptional Shiraz has some serious cellaring potential and will highly reward those with patience or a decanter. Aromatic and rich, with dense, dark fruit characters and savoury spice. The palate is plush and layered, with luscious tannin and a lengthy finish; oak influence is at play, but youthfully so. Overall, there's a more European feel that's unsurprising to those who know of Steve's unwavering love of Gramenon's Sierra du Sud.
