Hailing from the village of Couchey in the Côte de Nuits, this fourth-generation Domaine is now run by father and son, Philippe and Johann Robert, who are crafting beautiful, true-to-form Burgundy.
The Marsannay Champs Perdrix is a consistently elegant wine from one of the iconic vineyards of Marsannay, sitting above the village and bordered by pine forest. Fruit is sourced from vines planted to rocky soils over almost pure limestone—imparting a lovely mineral element to the wine—and is cold soaked before a long and slow ferment and being pressed to barrel, of which roughly a third is new.
There's plenty of energy in the glass here, with briary fruit and a lovely acid drive complemented by a kiss of toasty oak, while some chew to the tannins brings about more grip and structure.

Who Is Philippe Robert?
Hailing from the village of Couchey in the Côte de Nuits, this fourth-generation Domaine crafts beautiful, traditional Burgundy.
With holdings in both Marsannay and Fixin, the wines of father/son duo, Philippe and Johann Robert have close family ties to the famed Domaine Armand Rousseau family, and while that could well be an easy sales pitch to lean on, these wines have no problem speaking for themselves in their own right.
These are wines that we're incredibly pleased to have on Australian shores, which far surpass their comparatively modest price points and make for an exceptional drinking experience.
