Gut Oggau is the project of Eduard Tscheppe and Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck—a dynamic duo focussing on traditional Austrian grape varieties, taking a minimal intervention approach to winemaking and yielding wines of exceptional purity and complexity.
Atanasius is a blend of Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch, coming from 35-year-old vines. Hand-harvest, fully destemmed fruit was fermented on skins for three weeks, in used barrels. Aged in those same barrels for a further 12 months before being bottled unfined, unfiltered and without any additions.
