Beautiful. That colour is thanks to plenty of time on skins which teases out all the Semillon’s sandalwood, papaya and fennel seed notes. The tannins are papery but present, and there’s some great texture. A good time - serious orange - wine made by some local weirdos.

All that flattens though, after just a second on the tongue when a nice drying, dusty tannin and textural acidity take over. Decant if you’re into perfection–it’s not for everyone. Oh, and you could cellar this, just for a couple of years. ]

Pours deep purple and has a weave of dark spices and star anise, plus some cassis and currants. Very French for Geelong, from those fruits to the acidity and unfolding effect you get as you drink. Absolutely cellarable.

Hello from the Eden Valley, your slightly cooler, more elevated region bordering the Barossa for those playing along at home. Drinks like a summer evening, complete with cooling, minty tannin (breeze) and a velvety fruit warmth that's rich and inviting. Feels like a red to sit with at the park over a couple of chapters, or some nice conversation.

Barr Eden Dreams of Gold Shiraz 2023

The generosity of New Zealanders is so abundant that it seeps into their wine. That’s why they smile over there when they drink, not because of the ABV. The flavour and depth might also have something to do with it. Take this Chardy with all its grapefruit acidity, and white to yellow nectarine juiciness that’s lined with some creamy oak that dances on the back palate. It’s practically a bottle of balance.

One of our most reliably loved, southern Rhône producers. Each bottle makes dinner a little more chic and adds some earthy spice and a juicy handful of cranberries, blood plums, cherries, and blue fruits. It’s bold in flavour but kept sensible with tannin.

Sooty and savoury with a black olive edge and some spices that’ll be there for you all through Spring and on cold Summer nights. Cheers to all the generous mulberry, plums and that little leafy, spiced oak. It’s literally the ‘jewel’ in our Merlot/Cabernet section, so if you like shiny rocks and you were meant for me, then I was meant for you.
