A phenomenal Nebbiolo from the former snowboarder and pitbull himself. Fruit is from Olek’s Starderi plot, and was macerated on skins for two months creating a wine full of a vibrant acidity, earth, and fine tannins. YUM!

Olek Bondonio Barbaresco Starderi 2020

This is one of only two cuvées produced by cult producer Serafino Rivella, a husband and wife winemaking duo based in Montestefano. It's an absolutely gorgeous example of Barbaresco, showcasing classic Nebbiolo notes of fragrant red fruits, spices, violet, tobacco, and worn leather with agile tannins and youthful acidity. One for the cellar!

A unique expression of Nebbiolo, from Paolo Veglio (who just so happens to be Olek Bondonio’s neighbour!), all organically-farmed. A fresh and approachable riff on this complex grape, this leads with plush fruit, followed by the mid-palate grip that we know and love.

An ex-champion snowboarder of Polish heritage, Olek Bondonio is somewhat of a wildcard entry to the viticultural scene of Italy's famed Piedmont region. Bondonio began his foray into wine when he started tending to the vines on his family's property, studying the intricacies of each site before undertaking his first vintage in 2005. A staunch believer of minimal chemical input in both the vineyard and winery, Bondonio has quickly established a reputation as a producers to keep an eye out for, and it's not difficult to see why. The 2018 Barbaresco Starderi is a beautiful Nebbiolo from 40-year-old vines in the Starderi township, well-known for its powerful and structural expressions of the grape. Expressive and compelling.

This wine is tight with its aromatics so give it a decant so you get to enjoy all its romantico charm. The palate leads with ripe raspberry and concentrated red fruit, which is supported by some clear tannin and stoney minearly that adds length.

Poderi Colla Barbaresco Roncaglie 2019

There have been high expectations with this release, but it's exceeding those thanks to a balance of bold punchiness and bouquets of lavender and violets on the nose, plus notes of ripe red and black cherries with a savoury, spicy and stony minerality on the palate.
