Hailing from Sicily's limestone-heavy soils, this Rosso blend is bright in colour and character. There's a lovely tension and freshness to the fruit, with raspberry, crunchy cherry, and a little red candy tempered by fresh cut herbs and a smattering of sandy tannin. So. Good.

Each glass opens ripe and plush, with red cherry, blood plum and a mineral edge. There’s some decent weight that’s thrown around in a way that’s not ostentatious. Maybe life makes a little more sense when you’re drinking wines like this because these wines make sense.

Think herbal strawberries, and light red fruits that come through with a savoury, mineral and salty feel. This vintage is still light and lifted, but there’s just a little extra tannin which leaves room for extra ruminating.

Mortellito Rosso Sicilia Calaniuru Frappato Nero d' Avola 2022

Complex, layered and smouldering with volcanic minerality and earthy terracotta. This one feels a little softer and more fruit forward than recent vintages. 80% Nerello Mascalese, and 20% Nerello Cappuccio brings rich, ripe cherry, chestnut and mahogany like tannins and an interplay of berries, stone and earth that really makes you ponder.

I Custodi Pistus Etna Rosso 2021

This sun soaked red pours with a gorgeous shade of cherry and comes, blushing with fruit and a little wildflower. Grown on 20-year-old vines that run over clay and at 430m elevation, grapes were fermented on skins for seven days, before pressing and eight months in concrete.
