A nice, textural medium bodied wine with swirling floral aromatics. The palate has some lovely gloss, stone fruit, lime citrus and green melon.

Fresh and aromatic, with plenty of pear notes on the nose. In the glass, there are lots to love with stone fruit and hints of apricot complemented by crisp acidity and a splash of mineral salinity on the glossy palate. Very delicious and a very good example of Grillo!

Colomba Bianca Grillo Principe di Granatey 2022

From the north side of Etna, this Bianco is fermented entirely in steel to really let the precious volcanic earth come through with as little manipulation as possible. It's salty with a little honey blossom and some peach fuzz on the nose, while the palate is more savoury. There's also a textural quality as there is with most things Sicilian in our experience. Bellissima.

A cooler year has resulted in a fresher rendition of the variety, yet still carries a lovely weight and feel to the wine. Pure lemon citrus and a little rind run into red delicious apple and some phenolic drive from its time in both concrete and four days on skins. Aromatic, complex and just the bottle to impress those in the know.

Filippo and Nancy Rizzo's LoFi approach to winemaking—wild fermented and a few days on skins—has resulted in a wonderfully textural example of the variety. Rich, creamy, with preserved citrus, zest and a nervy acidity woven through adds to the layers of complexity.
