Provenance Henty Pinot Gris 2023

This Whitlands Pinot Gris is the first release to come out of the Joans of Marc project, with a portion of the proceeds of every bottle going towards helping wildlife affected by this year's floods. It's a lean and crunchy wine with more freshness than you might expect from a Pinot Gris. Pithy citrus, lime leaf and quartz-like minerals with a little creamy texture from time on lees in old oak.

Luckily for us, a cool 20 years later they started their own label, with Hoddle Creek's Franco D'Anna working his vinous magic with their fruit. There's loads of character here while retaining delicious freshness—expect mandarin oil, red apple with balancing citrus-lined acidity, and a lovely copper hue.

It's a Gris style that tightens up nicely on the back end of the palate but will still appeal to fans of a richer, more textural Pinot Grigio akin to those of Northern Italy. Superbly textural, this is packed with rich pear, ripe red apple, subtle ginger spice & a lovely line of acid tension woven through, from its cooler east-west orientation in the vineyard. With lovely length, it leaves an impression of flavour that stands up to a meal with a little kick.

From the organically farmed Basset vineyard comes this excellent example of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris showing off the aromatic side of the variety. A lovely, fresh and mineral-laden palate, with apple blossom and a little spice, and a gentle lees texture gives this a real ease of drinkability. Delightful!

Even Keel Pinot Gris 2021

Notes of rockmelon, orange citrus and a hint of spice, this is lighter in style for a skinsy Pinot Gris. A great option for the rosé lovers out there, with the extra dimension of ginger spice adding an exciting layer of interest! It's the perfect match with food that's got some kick to it.
