Made from only six rows of Savagnin in the Yarra Valley's Rising Vineyard, which was planted as a trial in 2000 under the false assumption that they were Albariño cuttings. It's textural and concentrated, with varietal pineapple and stonefruit notes leading into a little oxidative salinity and a hint of lime leaf.

Dappled Tradition Cabernets 2020

The fruit was handpicked and fermented as 100% whole bunches, before settling down in oak barrels to develop. Delicate strawberry and wheatgrass herbal notes alongside a hint of smokey earth. Some whole-bunch tannins give the palate a dusty and savoury quality.

Medium-weighted with subtle orange blossom, almond meal, crunchy white pear, a little phenolic chew and a dash of ocean salinity.

Zonzo Estate Scoperta Fiano 2021

Taken from Best's own clones from the historic Concongella Vineyard, with vines averaging 40-years old. It sees 18 months in oak, with scrupulous barrel selection producing a wine of intense character and complexity. Rich dark plum and sweet blackberry laden with Szechuan peppercorn and clove spice. Oak influence is pronounced but seamlessly integrated, with some plush tannins building through to a long and complex finish. Drink now or cellar for 5-10 years.

From the organically farmed Basset vineyard comes this excellent example of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris showing off the aromatic side of the variety. A lovely, fresh and mineral-laden palate, with apple blossom and a little spice, and a gentle lees texture gives this a real ease of drinkability. Delightful!

Even Keel Pinot Gris 2021

Made using fruit from the Roundstone vineyard, a rare parcel of Gamay planted in the Yarra Valley in the 1990s. This bottle packs bright red berries, a touch of tart cherry, and oodles of fun.
