A lovely, fresh and mineral-laden palate, with apple blossom and a little spice, and a gentle lees texture gives this a real ease of drinkability. Delightful!

Winemaker David Chapman has always been about celebrating some of the key wine growing regions in the Mornington Peninsula. A one man show that is equally involved in the viticulture as he is the wine making. Hailing from the Merricks vineyard, these 33-year-old vines produce small crops of tiny Chardonnay bunches. Opening with lovely lifted floral aromatics, there is a crystalline mineral feel, linear and taught, with electric acidity, and given an extra dimension by a gentle hazelnut kiss. This Must Be The Place is a new series that’s close to our hearts. For this series, we chose to work with varieties that are at home in the place they were grown and produced. Our Mornington Peninsula wines were grown bayside, where the vineyards are warmer and better protected than along the coast. The resulting wines boast generous flavours and more richness. This Chardonnay is beautifully soft and textural. A broad spectrum of fruit flavour reflects the site, with white stone fruit, nashi pear, fennel fronds, and subtle oak spice present. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. Grown and made on the traditional lands of the Boon Wurrung / Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation.
