The idea is to let the Grenache grapes do the talking with minimal use of sulphur and no filtration, and what comes through is a real textural delight with vibrant florals, ripe raspberry and a lick of sandalwood and some rhubarb.

We made a thoughtful selection of subregional character when considering the wines we wanted to share with you. In McLaren Vale, the sandy soils of the vineyard work well to highlight the aromatics of the Grenache. This year's iteration is a real step up in complexity and structure! With the extra dimension of wild plum, think sweet red currants with some crunch to the fruit, and a lovely tight grain of tannin, all wrapped with a veil of berry and violet aromatics. Sweet, spice-laden and with a silk-like textural flow—there's a real finesse to this wine. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. Grown and made on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people.

This Must Be The Place McLaren Vale Grenache 2021

A thoughtful and well executed Grenache—we can't get enough of this. In the glass, expect red cherry and raspberry dialled up by some dried herbal whole bunch character that adds even more intrigue to the wine. Like any good Grenache, there's plenty of tannin, too, with some nicely etched edges delivering a little bit of bite to the experience.

Delicately styled Grenache from McLaren Vale's Blewitt Springs, brimming with a heady perfume of lifted lavender and strawberries. While fruits feel delicate there is a nice firm structure to the wine, along with some red liquorice notes, light mineral salinity, and the beautiful upstanding cat's tongue tannins.

So beautifully aromatic with notes of brooding earth and Turkish delight reaching from the glass. Bergamot, Satsuma plum and whole bunch notes take a supporting role to the lovely wash of tannins that build through the palate and are the real hero here.

There's power and vitality in this wine, with an aromatic floral opening ceremony. Wild damson plum and raspberry, balanced with a light splash of salinity and solid sandy tannin building on the palate. This is a pretty special bottle for Grenache enthusiasts, it's the earliest ever release of Clarendon Hill's Grenache and a rare opportunity to experience the wines at this point in their journey, when acid and flavours are at an all-time high.

A wine of quiet confidence. Fruit from old Grenache vines was carefully selected before being sent to ceramic eggs to ferment naturally and resting on skins for 170 days. Precise, yet softly red-fruited, this is like biting a perfectly ripe raspberry. A great wine, with tension, line and plenty of length.

Yangarra Ovitelli Grenache 2020

Sweet red currants, wild strawberry, red cherry and little white pepper spice. Deliberately bottles with a gentle spritz (that we think!) adds bounce and complements the chalky tannins nicely. The grenadine sweet spot lends itself nicely to a chill if that's ya vibe.

Jauma Like Raindrops Grenache 2021

Plum and salted seaweed on the nose lead to a palate of dark red berries, baking spice and some saline minerality. Give this some time in the decanter for maximum enjoyment.

A solid, enjoyable wine built around a sweet core of fruit with a dusting of white pepper. Nice freshness and concentration of fruit with notes of fresh strawberry jam, a saline mineral note and green herb.
