A delectable blend of Mencia and local varieties Merenzao, Caino and Garnacha Tintorerra have come together in this mid-weight Iberian delight from the slate-rich soils of Ribera Sacra that we love so much!

Somos Mencía 2021

One of our favourite releases each year, showcasing different origins, soils, altitudes, exposures, and grapes. Predominantly Mencía, with the remaining portion being made up of a mix of co-planted varieties such as Merenzao, Caiño, Sousón, Garnacha, and Tintorera. Ripe red cherries, dried Mediterranean herbs, and white pepper spice notes alongside some moreish pomegranate-like acidity. A great barbecue wine!

Mencí is a variety seldom grown in Australia, yet this hearty variety, often referred to as Spain's answer to Pinot Noir, is well-suited to Australia's warm, dry climate. Ministry of Clouds Mencía is a plush and medium-weight example, showing violet flower aromatics, blood plum and black cherry along with a dusting of baking spice and flecks of black pepper. Drink this alongside a Paella for a taste of Spain from the comfort of your own home!
