Plush and plummy Gamay that has a mineral edge after maturing in large oak vats to deliver plenty of length and complexity–value. Grown on vines that are around 45 years old and situated in a natural amphitheatre around the Château. Sounds breathtaking doesn't it? Have to get to Beaujolais.

2021's Côte de Brouilly is richer than previous vintages and has red fruit aromas with notes of ash and wet leaf. It's fleshy and vibrant on the palate and has a berry core, powdery tannins and a salty finish. Just perfect with roast chicken and crunchy spuds.

Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Les Sept Vignes Gamay 2021

Named after Bouland's daughter, Cuvée Mélanie comes from a small parcel of 70-year-old vines, located on the steep slopes of Mount Brouilly. A fantastic wine to accompany a dinner party, this shows sweet blue fruits alongside a thrilling line of tangy acidy and powdery tannin, with a perfumed veil layered with smoke, spice and alluring red fruits.

Daniel Bouland Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Melanie 2021

Aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak, this is a wonderful example of the understated complexity that Brouilly has to offer. Ripe red and black fruits, baking spice, aniseed and violet mingle alongside a concentrated palate with persistent tannins and focussed acidity. This would benefit from a couple of hours in the decanter - try it with some charcuterie, poultry dishes, or cheese!
